tips for the 2 week wait

After an embryo Transfer, the days can drag on while you’re waiting to find out if you’re pregnant or not. Here are some tips to help you through the 2 Week Wait!

Make Healthy Food Choices

To ensure you’re on the right track, it’s important to make sure you are getting all the vitamins and nutrients you need. Here are a few suggestions we would recommend:

  • Lean meats, eggs, legumes and beans that are high in protein.
  • Fish, avocado and coconut milk all contain healthy fats.
  • Many fruits and vegetables are packed with healthy carbohydrates, such as sweet potatoes, broccoli and apples.

Stay Hydrated

Proper hydration is essential for reproductive health. Sipping water throughout the day will not only make sure you’re getting enough water, but it also helps create a healthy habit. Snacking on foods that have a high-water content, such as watermelon or cucumber, can be an extra aid as well.

Avoid Excessive Caffeine

A little coffee or tea is ok to have but try not to have more than 1 or 2 cups a day. 300 mg or less is what we recommend if you still want to enjoy caffeinated drinks during the 2 Week Wait.

Don’t Drink Alcohol

For a long time, medical professionals would advise that one drink won’t hurt. However, most experts now agree that alcohol is correlated with lowered rates of implantation and increased rates of miscarriage. We advise you to stay away from it to be on the safe side.

Consider taking Prenatal Supplements

Always ask your doctor before taking any supplements, but usually prenatal vitamins are a great way to make sure your body is getting tons of support! They are commonly packed with Folate, Omega 3 and Vitamin D.

Avoid Testing Very Early

You shouldn’t start to see anything on a pregnancy test until around the 5 – 7 days, but even then, it might be very faint. If you do start testing after the first week, try to do it once each day and compare the results. If the line continues to turn darker, that is a very good sign you might be pregnant!
