Is surrogacy or IVF covered by OHIP or provincial health insurance?

The surrogate's pregnancy and delivery care are generally covered by her provincial health plan like any other pregnancy. For IVF, Ontario's Fertility Program funds one IVF cycle for eligible patients under 43 (fertility drugs are not included), and Quebec, British Columbia and some other provinces offer funding or tax credits.

Programs and eligibility change, so check your own province's current rules, including the Ontario Fertility Program, and ask your clinic what is covered for your situation. Medications, genetic testing and embryo storage are usually separate costs.
