Wondering whether Canadian Surrogacy Options can be trusted? Here is who we are, how long we have been doing this, how our fees work and what our refund policy says.

If you are searching for this, you are doing exactly the right thing. Choosing a surrogacy agency is a big decision, and you are trusting people with your family's future and a lot of money. You should check us out, and I would rather you ask hard questions than not.

So here is the plain version, written by me.

Who we are

Canadian Surrogacy Options was founded in 1992 by my mother, Joanne Wright, who was also Canada's first surrogate. I grew up in this field and I have been part of it since I was 4 years old. I took over leading CSO around 2014. In 2007 I founded Little Miracles, our egg donation company, and I was an egg donor five times myself.

We are based in Cambridge, Ontario, with offices in Cambridge and Guelph. We work with intended parents and surrogates across Canada, and we also operate Camica, a US-facing program for families who want the compensated US model.

How our fees work

You should never be surprised by a bill, so here is exactly how it works.

| Program | Agency fee (CAD, plus HST) | |---|---| | Independent Journey | From $1,500 | | Foundation | From $9,500 | | Guided Journey | From $19,500 | | Priority Match | From $29,500 |

The agency fee is paid in three equal stages, never all upfront:

  1. One third at intake and profile
  2. One third when active matching begins
  3. One third after you are matched

That means you are never paying for work that has not happened yet.

Agency fees are one part of the total cost. Surrogate reimbursements, legal fees, clinic costs and insurance are separate. A complete journey in Canada typically runs $80,000 to $120,000 CAD.

Our refund policy

We publish it so you can read it before you sign:

  • 85% back in Phase 1
  • A free pause if life gets in the way
  • A sliding scale during matching

The full details are on our Intended Parents page.

How surrogates are looked after

Surrogates are screened medically and psychologically, receive their own independent legal advice, and have a support person on our team throughout. Canadian surrogacy is altruistic, which means they are reimbursed for documented expenses and are not paid a fee.

What we will not do

  • We will not guarantee a timeline or an outcome
  • We will not pressure you to pay everything upfront
  • We will not tell you surrogacy has no risks

Honesty about timelines, costs and risks is how we have operated since 1992, and it is how I want every family to feel when they work with us.

How to check any agency, including us

  • Ask for the fee breakdown in writing
  • Ask for the refund policy in writing
  • Ask to speak with a lawyer of your own choosing
  • Ask what happens when a transfer fails
  • Read our list of 15 questions to ask any agency

Talk to me

If you would like to ask me anything, including the hard questions, I am happy to answer them. No pressure, and no sales script.
